PHILIPPINE PARTICIPATION AT THE "DEYATAK IRULA"

EXHIBITION IN SRI LANKA

 

 

 

 

 

 

       26 February 2008 – The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Philippine Honorary Consulate General – Colombo headed by Philippine Honorary Consul General William John Terrence Perera participated in the Deyata Kirula Exhibition which Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry launched as part of activities commemorating Sri Lanka’s 60th Independence Day Anniversary.  The Deyata Kirula Exhibition was held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Commemoration Hall in Colombo on 07-10 February.  It was the first time that the Philippines participated in an exhibition showcasing both its export and import commodities while simultaneously promoting Philippine tourism.  Honorary Consul General Perera spearheaded the setting up of the Philippine stall in collaboration with the following entrepreneurs:  Chairman/Managing Director Ananda Samarasinghe of Indoscan Private Limited; Chairman Mineka Presantha Wickramasingha of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd.; Customer Services and Distribution Manager Heshan Rodrigo of Nestle Lanka Ltd.; General Manager Tilet Perera of Philippine Airlines, GSA Steuart Air (Pvt.) Ltd.; Country Manager Hadjirul “Hadji” A. Sahad and Consultant Sarath Wickramasinghe of Dole Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd.; and President Rossana Kelly of the Philippine Ladies Association on Philippine Handicrafts. 

The Philippine stall displayed RP exports such as Philippine-made Nestle cornflakes, cococrunch, and Milo choco crunch; Dole Philippines processed food items grown in Sri Lanka; Philippine-made Johnson & Johnson personal care products; and Philippine Euro-Med pharmaceutical products.  Sri Lanka Tiara cakes, which the Philippines imports from Sri Lanka, were also on display.   Philippine tourism promotional materials were also made available by the embassy. 

The Philippine booth, with its attractive products and exhibit, caught the attention of the Sri Lankan public.  END
