An early morning mass at 7:30 a.m. started the day, where the priest celebrant congratulated the nation of the Philippines on the momentous occasion.  The mass was followed by a flag-raising ceremony.  A Filipino singer among the FilCom, Ramon Billanes, led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.  Finance Officer Max Ortiz led the Panunumpa sa Watawat.

The flag-raising ceremony was followed by a Pinoy salo-salo breakfast hosted by the embassy.  Pinoy food like goto and pansit were served.  Ambassador Tacorda-Rabago expressed appreciation that even if it was a working day many Filipinos came for the event, after which she read the statement by Commissioner Alex R.
