PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN KUALA LUMPUR CELEBRATES

22ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE EDSA PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION

28 February 2008 - Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Victoriano M. Lecaros led the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in a flag-raising ceremony at the Embassy grounds on 26 February to commemorate the 22nd Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution. The flag-raising ceremony was followed by the reading of the EDSA 08 Briefer entitled, “Reaffirming the Vision: A Community at Peace, A Nation in Progress” by Mr. Alex R. Magno, Commissioner of the EDSA People Power Commission.  

The occasion was made more meaningful by discussions after the ceremony which focused on how the people’s revolution of 1986 should best be remembered by all Filipinos. Everyone agreed that the task of safeguarding the ideals of the EDSA People’s Revolution lies with the entire Filipino people, not just with the government. This is in consonance with the theme for the celebration, which is, “Kapayapaan at Pagkakakaisa Tungo sa Kaunlaran”.  END
