PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN BRUNEI CELEBRATES THE 22ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE EDSA PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION

29 February 2008 - Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Virginia H. Benavidez reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Embassy officers and staff, together with their respective spouses, celebrated the 22nd Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on 26 February with a flag-raising ceremony at the Chancery.

A short program was held after the flag-raising rites. Assistance-To-Nationals Section Head Atty. Neil Brilliantes led the opening prayer. Labor Attaché Dr. Elizabeth Recio shared a short essay on the importance of adopting positive values.

In her speech, Ambassador Benavidez called on the officers and staff of the embassy to give life to the spirit of EDSA by representing the Philippines to the best of their abilities, serving the Filipino Community in Brunei Darussalam with efficiency and dedication and carrying out their mission to serve our beloved country and people with excellence and integrity.

Ambassador Benavidez also read an essay by Mr. Alex R. Magno, Commissioner of EDSA People Power Commission, entitled “Reaffirming the Vision: A Community at Peace, A Nation in Progress.”  END
