HAMBURG PCG CELEBRATES 111^TH DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF JOSE RIZAL AND THE 10^TH FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY OF THE ORDER OF THE KNIGHTS OF RIZAL, HAMBURG CHAPTER

7 January 2008—Philippine Consul General Armando B. Fernandez, Jr. of Hamburg, Germany has reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that he, accompanied by his Consulate staff, attended the commemoration of the 111^th year of martyrdom of Dr. Joss Rizal and the 10^th founding anniversary of the Order of the Knights of Rizal Hamburg Chapter on 29 December 2007.

As guest speaker, Mr. Fernandez dwelled on the theme of the celebration, which was about the role of the Filipino youth in the national development of the Philippines.

He was emphatic in saying, among other things, that the Filipino youth could learn a great deal from Rizal's ways. He said that Rizal, who had a passion for truth, read for no less than ten hours a day on diverse subjects, thereby acquiring a profound knowledge of history, government, international relations, etc.

Mr. Fernandez was likewise presented by Chapter Commander Sir Ferdinand O. Cena, KCR with a certificate of appreciation, together with the other honorees, for his invaluable support to the projects and programs of the Knights of Rizal in Hamburg.

The celebration was held in coordination with the Kababaihang Rizalista, Inc., Hamburg Chapter. END
