RP EMBASSY GERMANY HONORS OFWs IN DIPLOMATIC MISSIONS/INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS IN BERLIN

08 January 2008 - Philippine Ambassador to Germany Delia Domingo-Albert reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Philippine Embassy in Berlin hosted a Christmas party in honor of OFWs working in diplomatic missions in the German capital.  Prompted by favorable remarks being made by her colleagues in the diplomatic corps on the excellent performance of Filipino technical and service staff, Ambassador Albert welcomed 72 Filipino workers from 37 diplomatic missions/international organizations to the festive occasion. 

The event gave the Embassy the opportunity to convey the Philippine government´s appreciation for the excellent work being done by the Filipino workers in Berlin and exhorted them to continue doing so.  Their efforts in performing their tasks in the embassies contribute in projecting a positive image of the Philippines and the Filipino people with the diplomatic community.

There are 22,107 Filipinos in Germany today.  This figure excludes those who have acquired German citizenship.  Of the 847 Filipinos in Berlin, 100 or more Filipinos are estimated to be employed with diplomatic missions / international organizations.

The program was highlighted by Christmas caroling in German, Pilipino, and English, musical and dance performances and ballroom dancing, as well as traditional Filipino food. END
