RP PROVES TO BE A POPULAR VACATION DESTINATION FOR NORWEGIANS AT THE REISELIV 2008 TOURISM FAIR IN NORWAY

17 January 2008 – Philippine Ambassador to Oslo Victoria Bataclan, together with DOT Tourism Attaché Domingo Enerio (2nd from right and 2nd from left respectively), entertained tour operators and interested tourists at the Reiseliv 2008 Philippine Tourism booth last 10 January at Lillestrom, Norway. The Reiseliv is a four-day annual event and is the biggest tourism fair in the country where over 700 exhibitors representing various countries and agencies of the global tourism industry come to participate.

During this four-day event, the Philippine booth entertained an estimated 1,000 interested and would-be tourists ranging from families, honeymooning couples, businessmen, sailors, editors of prestigious travel magazines in Norway such as Dykking (a dive magazine), and various other media personalities. Favorite destinations were Boracay, Palawan, Cebu and Bohol; although a number of visitors looking for great back-packing destinations also expressed interest in the Cordillera and Ilocos regions. A proposed travelogue on the Philippines is scheduled to start filming sometime in April or May 2008. Said travelogue will be featured in Norway’s favorite travel TV show “Hit og Dit.” RP’s participation at the Reiseliv is Oslo PE’s opening salvo to the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Norway. The center piece of this year-round celebration will be the Bayanihan Dance Troupe performance at the prestigious Oslo Konserthus on 10 March 2008 coupled with an art exhibit by renowned Filipino artist, Manuel Baldemor.
