17 March 2008 - Photo shows Ambassador Julius D. Torres presenting his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Hussein at the Basman Palace in Amman on 11 March.

Before the presentation, Ambassador Torres reviewed the honor guard, and the royal band played the Philippine national anthem at the sprawling palace grounds.

After the presentation, Ambassador Torres laid wreaths at the tombs of King Abdullah I, founder of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and great grandfather of King Abdullah II, King Talal, father of King Hussein and grandfather of King Abdullah II, and King Hussein, father of King Abdullah II who ruled Jordan for more than 40 years and who became renowned as a voice of moderation and tolerance in the strife-torn region.

Ambassador Torres said his priority is to assist distressed OFWs in Jordan while working to strengthen the economic and cultural ties between the two countries. END
