18 March 2008—Philippine Ambassador to Rome Philippe Lhuillier reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that more than a thousand members of the Filipino community in Italy have expressed appreciation to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for the reduction of consular fees in Italy.

 The “Lagda ng Mga Pilipino sa Italya bilang taos Pusong Pasasalamat kay Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo sa kanyang Pagpapababa ng mga Consular Fees dito sa Italya” bears about a thousand signatures of Overseas Filipino Workers from Reggio Calabria, Messina, Catania, Cosenza, Florence, Pisa, Empoli and Roma.
