08 May 2008 – Philippine Consul General Armando B. Fernandez, Jr. of Hamburg, Germany reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that he and his staff attended the Tanz im Mai (Dance in May) festivity of the Philippinische Frauen Gruppe, e.V. (Philippine Women’s Group) on 03 May 2008 as part of the Consulate’s continuing campaign to reach out to the Filipino community in northern Germany.
As a general policy, the Consulate touches base with the community by attending their social and cultural activities and by extending consular assistance to distressed Filipino nationals, among other things.
In his inspirational speech, Consul General Fernandez gave credit to the efforts of the organization to provide financial support to the poor students of Barangay Buga, Igbaras, Iloilo and also to sustain in Hamburg their Tinig Pinay Radio Program, the Tinig Pinay Newsletter, and other community-oriented projects..
Indeed, for the Philippinische Frauen Gruppe, there is more to just dancing in May. END |
